Ewe Agency becomes HeadNorth

The year is 1980, and Pearson Crossland Direct Ltd (PCD) is born in a single room office outside Leeds. This ‘sharp’ new agency quickly builds a reputation for excelling at all things ‘Direct’ - Direct marketing, Direct response, Direct mail… the work is creative, the strategy sound and the results stand out. An impressive client list is soon cultivated and many of these relationships will continue be serviced even to this day.
Shoot forward 26 years to 2006 and PCD’s growth prompted a move to the sheep-filled fields of rural Guiseley. It was here that Ewe Agency was formed. The agency’s transformation reflected not only its new leafy surroundings, but developments in the marketplace and an increased appetite to focus on all things digital. Ewe was able to distil the key principles of their direct response heritage and apply them with a modern digital emphasis. This strategy resulted in a host of impressive performances and the acquisition of clients such as Travis Perkins, Aviva, Cloud9 and Nutribullet.
Now 18 years later, Ewe Agency has evolved again. Phil Crossland, the last of the founding Partners has swapped creative brief writing and brand propositions for golf and plates of tapas as he embarks on a much-deserved retirement. The agency has also decided to migrate, swapping the sheep-filled fields for the bright lights and buzz of Leeds city centre. Much like our previous metamorphosis, disruptions in the marketplace and a strategic redirection have prompted our experienced team to redefine the future of our agency, and so we are excited and proud to introduce HeadNorth Agency.
Why HeadNorth? The shift is noticeable. In society, in brand interaction, and in the way we and our clients are approaching projects, campaigns and content. Today’s most successful marketing is more than just eye-catching creative and bold headlines, it’s based on a strategy that resonates with customers on a personal level, it’s smart, inclusive, and based on themes and content that targeted consumers actually want to engage with. We now utilise a strategy-heavy approach to planning and campaign development that has already seen HeadNorth achieve some impressive results. We command the insight and ideas to harness a deep understanding of both the brands we work hand-in-hand with, and the people they aspire to attract and retain.
Our agency is called HeadNorth – an ode to our history as well as a declaration of what we stand for as we face the future. We are strategic, direct and focused. We are a proud Northern Creative Agency that uses our heads more than our mouths, and north is the only direction we will be satisfied in taking our clients’ results.
